The Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO) is an international non-profit association that focuses on addressing the global need for improvement in the objectivity, quality and relevance of anti-malware testing methodologies.

Much like the EICAR test file used in many of the other AMTSO SFC tools, the CloudCar test file is a harmless file which should be detected and alerted on by most anti-malware products. Detection of the CloudCar test file should only occur when the file is queried in a cloud-based reputation system, and it should not be flagged by local detection databases or other non-cloud-based methods of detection.
This file is NOT malicious, but by an industry-wide agreement this file is detected as being malicious when cloud-based systems are enabled, so that people may verify that their anti-malware product’s cloud detection capability is correctly configured and properly functioning.
If you are able to download this file successfully, your anti-malware product is NOT configured correctly to use cloud-based resources, or DOES NOT conform to industry best practice.
