Welcome to our regular roundup of events and activities in and around AMTSO.
Meetings and Events
Our next member meeting will take place online next week, all member representatives should have received the call details and the agenda can be found on the member website. The call will include our annual Board election hustings, as well as reports from all our current working groups and an overview of several new projects in the works, including VPN testing and sandbox evaluations. The next public event will be a Testing Town Hall on July 3rd, which will feature a presentation from Google on Android security as well as member talks.
Board and Management
Voting is now open in our annual Board elections, details were circulated to members this week and votes can be submitted via email or using a form on the member website. Members will have a chance to meet and question the candidates during our member meeting next week. Voting will close on June 3rd and the new Board will be formed at the start of our new membership year on July 1st. Member representatives are requested to ensure their votes are submitted ahead of the deadline date.
Working groups
We held a meeting of the RTTL project team last week, reviewing the status of the system and discussing some proposed changes to expected lifespans of samples and sets. Our XDR team met this week with the XDR component survey form being worked on by tester members. Circulation of the vendor version has begun, expected to complete next week and including several non-members active in the space; we are seeking both feedback on the form layout and content, and completion of the form itself so we can start producing at-a-glance summaries of what’s included or available as an option in various implementations. Our New Frontiers group met to review plans to connect with CISOs and other purchasers, looking at a potential event later in 2024 as well as the formation of an advisory panel. Several interested parties have signed up to join our upcoming projects on Sandbox evaluation and VPN testing, and we hope to encourage more members to get involved in these projects during our member meeting next week, ahead of the new groups being officially launched in the following few weeks.
AMTSO Standard and Test Calendar
Here’s a summary of activities from our Standard compliance team:
- Phase 2 Commentary Collection for the Q1’2024 Enterprise, Small Business, and Consumer Endpoint Test Reports (AMTSO Test ID: AMTSO-LS1-TP109) launched on Monday, April 29th, 2024 and closed on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. The corresponding Compliance Report was issued on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024.
- A revised and streamlined version of the Phase 1 Commentary Collection form has been soft-launched for trials and will be used in the next batches of tests to be issued. In order to simplify processing, AMTSO will issue the new link along with each Public Test Notification and allow for rolling Phase 1 Commentary throughout a testing cycle, up to the point that the final Phase 2 Commentary collection is opened. The new form is available for vendors to submit comments on any currently open tests. A link to the form will be added to the member and public sites to facilitate access, and the new process will be presented and discussed at our member meeting next week. The form can be found here.

Member website
A number of additions and expansions were made to the member site over the last few weeks, including a new orientation area intended to help new members find their way around the various information and actions they need to settle in to the AMTSO community, as well as to give existing members easy access to common tasks. Further cosmetic improvements will be made over the next few weeks to complete the revamp process, and new multi-factor security will be activated in the final phase of the refresh.
Membership
We welcome returning founder member F-Secure back into the AMTSO community after a short absence. Members should have received invoices for the upcoming new membership year, any queries can be directed to [email protected].
