AMTSO News 2024-06-21

Welcome to our regular roundup of events and activities in and around AMTSO.

XDR Working Group

Our XDR project team finalized the first version of our product survey, aiming to gather information on what components are included in, or supported by, various XDR solutions/platforms. The survey was pushed out to all AMTSO members this week after initial trials with a subset of members, and non-member information is also welcome – the survey form can be found here: https://members.amtso.org/amtso-xdr-component-tracking/

Data gathered via the survey will be collated at our next working group meeting on July 17th, so we request that anyone interested in being included in the first issue of summary information please complete the form ahead of this date. Intel is also being gathered from testers to show which areas are covered by various tests, which will also be used to provide at-a-glance summaries.

Meetings and Events

We’ve circulated the call information for our next Testing Town Hall event on July 3rd, where we will have a talk from Google on security features in Android 15, as well as some insights into XDR testing from SE Labs. We hope to add additional speakers confirmed by the event date. We’re also expecting to release initial information to members next week on our next member meeting, which will be held in Dublin in late September/early October ahead of the annual Virus Bulletin conference in the same venue. Members interested in sharing a presentation with other members and invited guests are requested to contact AMTSO for more information.

Board and Management

We will hold our June Board meeting next week, with members of the advisory Board and incoming directors voted in in our recent elections also invited to attend. The new Board will officially commence duties on July 1st at the start of our new company year.

RTTL Working Group

Our RTTL and ThreatList projects continue to grow, with new participants signed up in recent weeks and more expected soon. The RTTL team will meet again next week to review progress on both projects.

Sandbox Evaluation Working Group

Our sandbox paper has been through initial review by those signed up to the working group, and will shortly be circulated to members for wider review and feedback. We will also be seeking input from non-members active in the space prior to putting the paper forward for formal adoption as an official AMTSO guideline.

VPN Working Group

We continue to collect participants for our new VPN guidance/standard project, with several tester and vendor members already signed up for the working group, and we plan to set out the schedule for the team next week. Any members interested in participating in the project should contact AMTSO to join the group.
